container gardening 2009

This past summer James and I experimented with various containers for our vegetable plants. We had a little bit of everything and were doing very well.....until the news went out to the local deer population that there was a buffet at the Benson's. Just when the buttercrunch lettuce was ready for harvesting.

ahhh winter snow

We knew it would happen and here it is. I awoke to a most beautiful snow fall this morning and that makes living in Central New York worth it. James is keeping busy either plowing our driveways or chopping wood for the greenhouses.

A little reminder of what is to come. Trudging through the snow to make sure the wood stove is doing what it was "hired" to do. Henny Penny loves her winter quarters - warm and toasty.

The Coming New Year

2010 is almost here and just like ever other year, I can't believe it has arrived so quickly. Our venture into Aquatics was well received and kept James and his crew very very busy. We have closed up for the winter and have one greenhouse open that is not only home to our carried over plants but to one very old chicken and one very lonely turtle. Stay tuned to see what is new in the greenhouses.
